Drawing the line @Music4Point5

Many thanks to arrangers Petra and Rassami who organized a fantastic event.

Topics covered at Music4Point5 were diverse and all very relevant for artists and labels. Throughout the event there was a slightly more optimistic feeling than is normal at music industry events.

A prominent panelist discussed that perhaps it is necessary to "draw a line" which would separate the new and the old industry. I believe this particular gentleman was referring to the opinion that the traditional music business is a soon-to-be extinct phenomenom and that we should therefore focus our efforts on models that will work in today's climate, rather than waste efforts on something that cannot be fixed. An interesting idea, but not universally popular perhaps. So much of mainstream music is owned by the big four, and therefore many services are working to accommodate the big four. This has been a topic of discussion within the TuneRights office since day 1. We've decided that it is important that all parties feel welcome and can benefit from our efforts. TuneRights.com is designed to work for both the traditional "bricks and mortar" business and the emerging digital economy.

The next Music4Point5 event will take place in November. Don't miss it! http://music4point5.com
