TuneRights Wiki

This Wiki is under construction, please be patient!

TuneRights.com[1] is a meeting place for creators and investors. Creators register their works and allow people to buy shares of the future revenue that a work generates. In other words, TuneRights is a stock exchange for songs and stock owners are entitled to a portion of the revenue stream that a song generates. Revenue streams are different for each investment and may include, but are not limited to, digital downloads, radio plays and licensing (ex. film and television). TuneRights is used by amateur and professional creators, by layman consumers, and by people working professionally in the music industry.

How does it work?

TuneRights, a peer-to-peer marketplace, provides a link between artist and investor. Using TuneRights an investor can buy revenue shares from a creator and a creator can distribute revenue as it is generated. TuneRights keeps records of the terms of each trade. Each person registered with TuneRights has a profile page and each tune has a unique tune page.

If you are a creator:

1. Register your songs

Fill in some info about your tunes. Tell investors where your tunes are available for listening or purchase. Ex. Myspace, SoundCloud, iTunes, Spotify, LastFm. If you're songs aren't available on the web, don't worry, we will direct you to our retail and licensing partners.

2. Get Paid

Create an offer: Tell your fans how much money you want for your hard work. Ex. 100 Euro for 10% of the revenue shares. This is negotiable, and on-going. You can change the total value of your song, by creating new offers.

3. Live the Dream!

Talk to your investors, make strategies for success. Your investors will help you spread the word, and make your songs more popular and succesful. When the money comes in, use TuneRights to pay your investors their share of the profits, ie. the Tune Revenue.

For all the Fans:

1. Find songs you love!

Use the TuneRights browse function.

2. Buy-in

When you've found a song that you want to support, you can accept an existing offer, or you can create a bid. An offer is created by the current song owner. Ex. 30 Euro for 5% of the song revenue shares. If you're not satisfied with the available offers you can create a bid. The bid will be received by the song owner(s) for consideration. If your bid is accepted, the trade is transacted immediately.

3. Share the sucess!

You're officially a member of the music industry. Watch the profits come in, via your account page.
